Municipal Services Building, South San Francisco, CA

Originally built in 1969 as a retail facility and purchased and remodeled in 1979 by the City of San Francisco, this 120,000 sf building houses a ground floor partial basement parking garage and fire department and at the second floor, offices, City Hall Chambers, multi-purpose rooms for the community and senior citizens and the police department.  Biggs Cardosa was retained to perform a preliminary seismic evaluation to determine if the building’s structural system complied with immediate occupancy seismic requirements and, if not, to recommend modifications necessary to upgrade the building in order to meet the general intent of these requirements.
