865 The Alameda, San Jose, CA

865 The Alameda, which is approximately 16,000 sf, was originally constructed in the late 1920’s and its first use was as a Packard Motor Car dealership. In 2007 Biggs Cardosa was hired to prepare contract documents for the rehabilitation of the building into an office. The structural work included a seismic retrofit of the structure, construction of full tenant improvements and restoring the exterior of the building to its original look by refurbishing the exterior light fixtures, reproducing and replacing missing tile, installing a new door and window transom to match the original and the creation and installation of missing cast stone features over the front doors and showroom windows. This project received the prestigious Gold Nugget “Grand Honor “ Award in the category of Best Rehabilitation Commercial/Industrial Project and the American Society of Interior Designers – Gold Award for Adaptive Re-Use for the beautiful restoration of our San Jose office building.
