Biggs Cardosa provided structural engineering for a pedestrian/bicycle overcrossing structure at Bayfront Expressway. The new structure provides a seamless connection between the expanded Meta campus and an existing bicycle/pedestrian trail along the north side of the expressway. The configuration of the pedestrian overcrossing structure is driven by aesthetics. Based on a conceptual architectural and iconic design by Gehry Partners, LLP, the main span over Bayfront Expressway and the approach ramp structures consist of non-parallel, overlapping built-up steel girders supporting concrete decking over a composite metal decking system.
