The Sonoma Fleet and Materials Lab Building is 21,000 sf and was designed with a high-bay maintenance area for servicing light vehicles and a low-bay area that includes a materials testing lab, office space and storage areas. The facility provides maintenance and repair services for the county’s vehicle fleet and includes a laboratory for testing of construction materials used in road and building construction. The facility was designed to incorporate solar panels on the roofs and bio-swales on site that capture storm-water runoff and improve ground water absorption. Inside the service area, radiant heating and insulation regulate temperature fluctuations, providing a comfortable work environment and allowing for sensible energy use.
