Opened in February 2007, this new 10,700 sf fire station received a Concrete Masonry Association of California and Nevada 2006 Honor Award in the category of “Public/Civil Design”. The design includes three apparatus bays with 18-foot tall masonry walls topped by chevron braced frames supporting a curved steel roof that appears to float above the walls. The apparatus bay is flanked on the north side by a lower wing that includes an exercise room, a turnout gear room, and a data/radio equipment center. The fire station also includes dining, kitchen, lounge and work areas, as well as living quarters. Photo Courtesy of Don Dommer Associates.
