East Campbell Avenue Portals Project • Campbell, CA

East Campbell Avenue Portals Project, Campbell, CA

To maintain the safety of pedestrians & bicyclists and create an aesthetically pleasing gateway portal, the City of Campbell constructed two portals by modifying the existing bridge that carries Highway 17 over Campbell Avenue. The portals connect the Pruneyard Shopping Center with Downtown Campbell. Biggs Cardosa was the prime consultant providing project management and leading a design team to provide the City a complete PS&E package that included aspects such as structural elements, civil/roadway elements, aesthetics, safety, right-of-way, electrical, constructability, local business impacts, community involvement, and others. All work was coordinated with Caltrans to obtain permits for improvements within Caltrans ROW and for modifying the existing Campbell Avenue Undercrossing. This project was awarded the 2018 ACEC California Honor Award in the Structural Systems category.
