Firestone Blvd. Bridge Widening over the Los Angeles River, South Gate, CA

The City of South Gate is set to reduce delays, improve mobility and increase safety on Firestone Boulevard. The Firestone Boulevard Bridge Widening Project will broaden the south side of the Firestone Boulevard Bridge over the Los Angeles River and provide an additional eastbound lane which will lead to the I-710 freeway’s southbound ramp. Biggs Cardosa was awarded the full Construction Management contract, providing resident engineering, structures representative, construction inspection, office engineering, public outreach, scheduling, labor compliance and materials testing.  The existing Bridge is a 4-span 473-foot long structure carrying the east-west traffic along Firestone Blvd. over Los Angeles River, 3-lanes in each direction.
