Biggs Cardosa performed the structural foundation design for a new one-story Greyhound bus terminal for the City of Sacramento. It includes a 10,000 sf terminal with six bus bays, a modern façade and an onsite restaurant serving hot meals and snacks. The sleek, modern terminal is silver LEED-certified and designed to be more efficient for bus service and provide better passenger accommodations. Some of the strategies used for energy efficiency include: daylight harvesting – system of natural lighting elements (windows and skylights) that are monitored with photo cells to control dimmable light fixtures; tall volume ceilings help cool the building; concrete flooring which helps with thermal mass.
