Kato Road Grade SeparationBiggs Cardosa led the structures design for one of four UPRR underpass structures required for the relocation of tracks as part of the BART extension to San Jose – SVBX Northern Area Guideway Project. The structure consists of two simple spans that total approximately 89 feet long, and will carry two sets of tracks with a bridge width of approximately 33 feet. An extremely tight vertical clearance and the desire to minimize the roadway depression required special evaluation of heavier and more closely spaced W30 steel girders. |
