Biggs Cardosa is the prime consultant providing environmental, right of way & engineering design services for the McKinley Street Grade Separation in the City of Corona. The project site is highly constrained. Biggs Cardosa developed an innovative concept to use a network tied-arch bridge to clear span BNSF’s right of way, a flood control channel, and an adjacent roadway. Previous alternatives required reconstruction of the flood control channel, which posed a risk due to decreased hydraulic capacity for an extended period of time. Biggs Cardosa’s innovative solution reduces risk and shortens the schedule. The project will construct the first vehicular steel network tied-arch bridge in California.
