Biggs Cardosa is the prime consultant providing environmental, right of way, and engineering design services for the McKinley Street Grade Separation in the City of Corona. To improve safety, reduce congestion, and enhance emergency access, McKinley Street is being elevated over the BNSF Railway via a network tied-arch bridge—the first of its kind for vehicular traffic in California. Biggs Cardosa’s innovative design eliminated the need for flood control channel reconstruction, reducing risk and expediting the schedule. To further accelerate construction, the bridge was built off-site and moved into place using Self-Propelled Modular Transports in August 2024 , while work continues on the east approach embankments, with project completion scheduled for 2025.
