As the prime consultant, Biggs Cardosa led a team of consultants for the widening of the Riverside Drive Bridge which spans over the Los Angeles River. The existing bridge, originally built in 1936, consists of five arched concrete T-beam spans. In addition to design services Biggs Cardosa assisted the City with HBP funding. Construction costs were significantly reduced after a liveload evaluation of the structure indicated that the bridge could carry current design loads making the bridge a candidate for widening rather than replacement.
